2 – 8 NOVEMBER 2015 (not including Tuesday 3 Nov)
Malthouse Theatre, 113 Sturt Street, Southbank, Melbourne

led by
Tess de Quincey &
Frank van de Ven – Bodyweather Amsterdam

Following a series of masterclasses, symposia and performances in Sydney 2012-2014, Frank and Tess will again open up their practice to share, explore and challenge the legacy of images that were an integral part of their BodyWeather training and performances within Min Tanaka’s MAI-JUKU performance group in Japan from 1984 until 1991.

Dancers, artists, practice researchers and academics are invited to participate in a 6-day process that consists of a 5-day intensive workshop (Monday, then Wednesday to Saturday) followed by a public symposium and informal performances on the Sunday. We will also explore a new format for exchange between workshop participants and contributors from different disciplines in order to develop a practice-research focussed on the complex relationships between image, language and movement in the processing of performed images within the body.

Besides a rigorous introduction to the images and methods of BodyWeather image-practice, participants will develop their own images for performance whilst engaging with writers and thinkers to tease out questions underlying the physical work.

Places are limited so book quickly to ensure your place.
