International exchange with BODYWEATHER AMSTERDAM

A workshop-symposium led by

Frank van de Ven &
Tess de Quincey

SATURDAY SYMPOSIUM
9 November 2 – 5pm

REX CRAMPHORN STUDIO
Department of Performance Studies
The University of Sydney

Dancers, artists, artist-academics and academics invite you to participate in an afternoon that explores the outcomes of a 5-day workshop and masterclass about the body danced by images. Amongst physical demonstrations, discussions, talks and short performances we’ll also have delicious vegetarian food by POD CUISINE – protein through plants. So… join us, join us, join us as we unfold experiences together!

Frank and Tess share and explore the legacy of images that were an integral part of their BodyWeather training and performances within Min Tanaka’s MAI-JUKU performance group in Japan from 1984 until 1991 and examine how this relates to contemporary dance and performance practice. Also explored is a new format for exchange between interdisciplinary practitioners, writers and thinkers, with the latter effectively ‘embedded’ or integrated within the image practice and research.
