How did you
gauge your body as an average on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being very low,
10 being very high) in terms of the following parameters during the day:-
Temperature Range:4
Density:2
Energy Level:8
Speed:9
What are your
main observations and/or experiences from the MB?
Working in groups was tricky with a group of people with different body
rhythms. Broader periferel vision resulted which also gave me a greater
sense of my total body space, vertical and horizontal. Lost sense of lengthening
to sides. My energy has remained at a high sustained and managable level.
What are your
main observations and/or experiences from the Manipulations?
Had a partner with strong hands today which was a sublime way to finish
off. Had a good long stretch through the spine, my parnter seemed to really
pull out through the ribs. I think this results mainly through following
the line of the rib rather than directly out to the side.
What are your
main observations and/or experiences from the Ground Work?
Biz o ku on the ridge was beautiful, the wind played with the movement
and gave a very different sense to the speed work. The slower speeds were
spent balancing against the wind rather than exploring our memories so
much. Burial, what a seductive experience! I was covered up as vertical
as we could make a whole so the sense of weight was crushing, though at
the same time my body seemed to retain an essence of delicate lightess
as though caught in a balloon of air. My pulse was a steady thump felt
through the total body, with the heat building to quite an intensity.
I think I was there for fourty minutes or so, and could have stayed longer,
the effort to breath and the rhythm of my blood became quite a meditation.
At times I felt myself almost fall asleep, it was a little like forgetting
to breath so I would have to catch myself with a large gasp for air. The
sounds became a muffled hum, wind becoming a crashing sea over and around
me. Movements of people nearby were heard and registered through the body
as the sand around me shifted to accommodate their weight and activity.
The world became a distant sense only just marking the activity of the
mind. When the sand was first removed from my head and face the sensation
of air, breeze and light was exilerating. My entrance back to the surface
of the landscape was slow and weighted. It was almost impossible for me
to remove myself from my hole as the weight bearing down was tremendous.
A sense of disconnection led me into the rehearsal for our closing piece.
Tess directed us to work through several of the exercises which we had
covered over the last few weeks, placing specific sites for different
activities to occur as well as a general outline within which these activities
would be linked. The process was quite simle though I would have liked
to see our involvement in the development of how the piece was to be put
together, though in reality time would not have permitted this. The light
was beautiful, just on dusk, and slowly sunk away as we concluded our
work. A perfectly timed finish. The glowing of the far ridge and the crystal
air were a magnificent setting for a performance.
What are your
main observations and/or experiences of the whole day?
There has been a tangible sense of expected conclusion in the energy of
the groupp toay, as thought stream ahead to what lies waiting for us in
our various homes. Wild dancing, clouds of dust and the glow of fire concluded
the day. The heavy drones of the band allowed tired bodies to shake themselves
free of tension and experiennce the exuberance of completing the workshop
process. Tommorrow takes us back into past lives and familiar patterns.
The future has yet to see how the last three weeks of focused work will
influence our performance practice and the general flow of our lives.
