De Quincey Co founding member VICTORIA HUNT is about to premiere her new work at Carriageworks as part of Performance Space’s LIVEWORKS FESTIVAL. Guided by Maori protocols and cosmology, TANGI WAI… THE CRY OF WATER merges installation, theatre and dance in a striking work about female authority, inheritance and rituals of belonging. Victoria has drawn on the talents of her multi-disciplinary team to investigate the transformative qualities of light, water, incantations and embodiment. The impressive creative team includes first-time collaborations with lighting designer Fausto Brusamolino and dancer Kristina Chan and a powerful company of women. TANGI WAI… THE CRY OF WATER explores the concept of Te Arai , a place of rememberances – bodies abandoned by spirit, urged by unknown forces.
